the flow of water cannot be easily stopped or contained. We must surrender our sense of control and let it go to float along.

Runes date back to around 200AD when they were used by Germanic tribes in Northern Europe. Over the centuries they have intrigued many and have been used in many different ways.
Nowadays we find many runestones engraved with inscriptions and graffity-like scribblings of names scratched into stone or wood. In the 18 and1900s the runes were granted a more magical meaning and evolved into means of divination. Followed by the horrifying misuse of runes in the second world war and today to spread fear and hate. If you want to see a more mundane and everyday use of runes, just look on your phone or computer for the bluetooth icon that provides a wireless connection. The logo is called a bindrune and combines the H and B rune that stand for Harald Bluetooth, who ruled over Denmark and Norway from 976 to 986.
I use the runes as a means to contemplate aspects of life and focus my thoughts. I enjoy making bindrunes. For friends and horses for example. I think about what I wish for them, what aspects suit them and the letters of their names. The meaning of a runes can vary when you combine them and I have found their meanings to be fluid and changing as I change, gain experience and years.
